Years ago, friends of mine introduced me to the NutriBullet single-serve blender. Later, it showed up as a best $100 purchase in Tim Ferriss's book "Tools of Titans". I've been using a NutriBullet for years, and it's definitely been my best $100 purchase. 1200W Blender Pitcher and 2 Cups

This new NutriBullet blender combo has 1200 watts of power and comes with 2 cups plus a blender pitcher. I haven't used the pitcher yet, but I've been using the cups every day for about a month, and they've been great! 

Improved Lids Click Tight & Stay Closed!

I've had other single-serving blenders, including other NutriBullets. But this one has cup lids that are much better. First, the latch actually clicks tight and stays closed. I take these to work for breakfast. So, they spend time in a bag with stuff like my SodaStream bottle of homemade seltzer water and my lunch. Unlike other, older cups, these stay closed! So, no shake mess to deal with when I get to work. Second, these cups have a loop that makes them really easy to pick up and carry when your hands are full.

My Breakfast Smoothie Recipe

I like I mention in the video on the NutriBullet, I make a breakfast smoothie about every day. It's almost always the same ingredients. Here's my breakfast smoothie recipe: 

  • 1 cup spinach
  • 1 cup frozen mixed berries
  • 1/2 avocado (I'm using frozen, pre-cut organic avocados.)
  • 2 Tbsp ginger root (I cut mine and store them in rice wine vinegar.)
  • 2 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 Tbsp probiotic yoghurt 
  • 1/2 scoop of chocolate whey protein powder. (Mostly, because it's chocolate. Mmmmm. ?) 
  • 12-15 oz. water

It was a long time ago, way before the Weber iGrill2 came along, when I first heard about probe thermometers. It was on Alton Brown's cooking show, "Good Eats", when he recommended probe thermometers. I've been using them ever since, and I've been through lots of them, expensive ones, cheap ones, and even remote control ones. But the best one I've had so far has been and continues to be the iGrill2. I've been personally using it for over a year. It's a great Bluetooth probe thermometer for grilling, smoking, or even roasting or baking in your oven. I use it all the time, and I would buy it again in a heartbeat.

Vent Microwave Exhaust Fan to Outside

I like to cook. So, one small home improvement that has improved my life a lot has been venting the over-the-range microwave fan through the exterior wall. The tools and parts were pretty cheap. (I already had a stud finder, and the microwave exhaust duct was not expensive, but links for both are below.) Plus, this project was fairly simple, and and it has really cut down on the smoke and odor in the kitchen and in the whole house.
